LABOUR CAUCUS
OPENED TO-DAY
A caucus of the Parliamentary Labour Party commenced sittings in, the Labour Whip's room at Parliament House this morning. * It is probable that the proceedings will continue until to-morrow.
■ Eighteen of the twenty Labour members were present. Mr. J. M' Combs (Lytteltou), who has been ill for some time, is unable to attend, although it is reported that'-he is making a good recovery. v Mr. D. G. Sullivan (Avon) was prevented from attending owing to tho illness of his father. The Leader of the party (Mr. H. E. Holland) presided, and Mr. J. /Thorn,- president of the Labour Party, was present.
A welcome was extended to Mr. Walter Nash, who was elected to represent tho Hutt electorate at the by-election in December. , '
A resolution was carried- expressing deep regret at the death of Mr. P. H. Hickey, who was prominent in the Labour movement in • New Zealand for many years, and it was decided to send a message of condolence to Mrs. Hickey.
