FAST FLYING
SQUADRON-LEADER.. ISITTfS TRIP

AUCKLAND, This Day.
Plying one of the Moth machines from Wigrani. Aerodrome, Christchurch, Squadron-Leader L. M. Isitt, commanding Hobsonville Air Base, arrived at Auckland last evening after an exceptionally smart trip from the point of view of actual flying time between Christchurch and Auckland. Ho was in tho air for five hours and a quarter. Squadron-Leader Isitt left Wigram at 3 o 'clock on Monday afternoon, and landed at Wellington an hour and a quarter later. He spent the night there, and left for Hawcra at 11.45 yesterday morning:, arriving at Hawera at 1.20 in the, afternoon. He left oa the- linal stage to Auckland at 3.15, and lauded at Hobsonville Aerodrome at 5.40.
Squadron-Leader. Isitt was favoured by a following wind all the way, which accounted for his fast trip. The flight from Christchurch to Auckland by way of Wellington and Hawera usually takes over seven hours. The machine in which Squadron-Leader Isitt flew to Auckland is an ordinary De Haviland Moth, which has been in use at Wigram for some time. While it is in Auckland it will be used for flights in conjunction with training operation? by artillery batteries next month.
