UPPER HUTT SALE.
Messrs. Dalgety and' Company, Ltd., re- ."' port having held a highly successful sale ; • of sheep and cattle yesterday, on account of Messrs. Whiteman Bros., of the Upper Hutt. The sheep were sold at the homestead, and the cattle at the Upper Hutt Saleyards. There was) a large and repre- ; ' sentative attendance o£ buyers, and as ' there was no reserve, a total clearance was effected at very satisfactory prices. The condition of the stock and the general arrangements made by1 the. vendors for an expeditious sale were the subject , of very favourable comment. Prices ruled ' as under: —Fat and forward .wethers, 255; 4-tooth wethers, 23s 2d; 2-tooth wethers 23s Id; 2-tooth ewes, 315,; 4 aud 6-tooth .'.' ewes, 295; 4-year ewes, 23s 2d; 5-year •'• ewes, 19s Id; wether lambs, 16s 3d; ewe ' lamb's, 24s;'b.f. lambs, 17s; cull lambs, ■-' 9s 6d; mixed age Romney rams, 2% guineas; S.D. rams, 4 guineas. The bulk of •■' the cattle was* of the Aberdeen Angus ' breed and elicited keen competition: .Fat ' bullocks made from £13 to £14, fat cows ■ £9 2s 6d to £10, cows with calves £9, . 3 and 4-year steers £12 10s to £13 • 17s, small steers £9 to £11 2a 6d, coloured ~' bullocks £7 to £11, 2 and 3-year empty heifers £7 12s, 1%-year steers £3 10s, £5 to £6, cows and heifers, r.w.b., £10, *■ B A.' bulls 7. guineasl to 9% guineas. The ' offering' comprised 4000 sheep and 200 head of cattle.
