Extraordinary circumstances are associated with the disappearance and dcatli of Mrs. Margaret Pursr, a woman of educational attainments, who resided ou an orchard at Applclhorpc, in Southern Queensland, with her husband, an Italian; She was ]ast seen by tho local pos[mistress on 6th ITcbruary, when she called for the mail, since- when the postmistress had been unable to raise her by telephone. She becanio suspicious, and told tho local police, who began a. search. They discovered her parrot and bulldog oh tho verge of starvation and tho house deserted. Tho police secured blacktruckers, tho garden was dug' up, and, finally, Mrs. Furst's fuliy-clothed body was found fpur feet below the surface. Tho skull was fractured, and apparently she had been murdered. Her husband was last scon leading by train on Bth February. The police are now looking for him. The ground where tho body was buried was recently; harrowed, apparently to allay suspicion.
