DENIAL BY WIRELESS
Mi. F. W. Scllcns (Northland) reports that at 6 a.m. yesterday ho heard tho Russian short-wave wireless station EA97, located at Khabarovsk, Eastern Siberia, commence- a special programme for tho .benefit of listeners in Western Europe. The opening announcement was mqde in Russian by a man, after which a. woman with an American accent spoke. A musical item having been given from the studios, the- woman, speaking in English, referred to internal troubles in all countries of the world. She also rcplied'to what tho Pope find tlio Archbishop of Canterbury had said about, religious affairs in Russia, declaring that all the talk was merely a crusade against tho Soviet Union, which had been credited with doing things it, had never dreamed of. Several musical items were given, and a man then spoke in Jvussiaii.
