RECORDS BROKEN
SWIMMING IN TARANAKI . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, This Day. The advance being made in the sport of swimming in Taranaki was demonstrated yesterday afternoon and evening when eight of the centre records were broken at the annual championships. The .new records were set in fresh water baths, though the times eclipsed were, with the exception of the junior boys' 50 yards, made in salt water. The details of tho new records are:— , Junior Girls, 50 yards.—Miss E. Kelsen, 38see; previous record, -40 l-ssec. Junior Boys, 50 yards.—J. Campbell, 35 l-ssee; previous record, 35 3-ssec. Fresh Water Intermediate Girls, 50 yards. —N. Duckworth, 35sec; previous record, 37 4-ssec. Intermediate Boys, 100 yards.—l. Jobson, 68 4-ssec; previous record, 70 2-5 sec. Ladies, 100 yards.—Miss D. Fowler, 80 2-ssee; previous record, 83see. Men's, 50 yards.—H.'St. George, 28 3-ssec; previous record, 28 4-ssec. Men's, 100 yards.—H. St. George, 64 3-ssec; previous record, 66 3-ssec. Men's, ■ 100 yards Breaststroke.—W. Mundry, 84sec; previous record, 84 3-5 sec.
