CHANGE IN WEATHER LIKELY Although it was not actually raining at any of the weather report stations at 9 x> 'clock this morning, the conditions had deteriorated distinctly since yesterday. Some showers havo fallen in the southern portion of the West Coast of the South Island, and skies were dull and threatening this morning from Auckland northwards. Generally there had been an increase in haze and cloudiness. Northerly winds havo prevailed, and thoy have been strong at times in and south of Cook Strait. Sultry conditions have persisted. At Wellington the weather has been cloudy, with a gusty northerly wind. The maximum gust at Kelburn Observatory was 43 miles an hour, which was recorded at 12.10 a.m. to-day. At Auckland, yesterday was fine, but after a warm, humid night, conditions were dull and threatening there this morning. Christchurch has had pleasant, sunny weather, with a moderate north-easterly breeze, and Dunedin has experienced similar conditions. At both places, however, it was cloudy this morning. The forecast is for north-cast to north-west winds, moderate to strong. Fair to cloudy w.eather is to be expected in eastern districts, but conditions will become unsettled in Westlaud and far northern and southern districts, with scattered rain. Temperatures are expected to remain warm.
