TJie Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, this morning took up his residence at Viceroy House, the new official tituj of the residence, which occupies a commanding site in New Delhi, and is fast reaching completion. As the Viceroy^ train reached New Delhi, it was struck by a bomb, which wrecked the' restaurant car. One attendant was slightly injured. Lord Irwin was in another part of the tram. The arrangements made for his reception at New Delhi wer<i unaltered. v ■

Heplying in the House of. Commons to a question about the outrage afc Delhi Captain Wedgwood Benn, Secretary for India, said: "I ha Vo His Majesty's permission to read to you a message which the Viceroy of India, Bent to the King through the Sd£ Oflice this morning. The message says:
I regret to l^ve to inform yo ur Majesty that an attempt was made this morning to wreck toy trah; by exploding a bomb under it as we were approaching Delhi. Luckily n o harm was done, and few of us realised what had occurred. I hope Your Majesty therefore will not be disturbed by exaggerated reports.
Captain Benn added: "I dm sure I shall be expressing the sentiment of tne House in voicing our tirofniimT thanks that Lord a,i Lady IrwL "nf their staff so providentially escaped injury in this dastardly outrage."
