COUNTRY BURNT BARE
WIDESPREAD DEVASTATION
BUSH FIRE IN NEW SOUTH
WALES
(Keceived 24th December, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A Coraki message says that bush fires are sweeping over a huge area of heath country between 'tho Klchmond Eiver and the sea. The countryside has been burnt bare for miles and the residences have been destroyed. Two men, a woman, and three children had a narrow cscapo from death when tho lorry in which they were riding stopped. Firos wero raging nearby and the occupants were forced to shelter in a waterhole. Milea of fencing were burnt and tho roads blocked by falling trees. Large areas of grass country have been devastated.
