EMPIRE FREE TRADE
BEAVERBROOK CRUSADE
CANADIAN'S IMPRESSIONS
(Received 24th December, 1 p.m.) OTTAWA, 23rd December. Lord Beavcrbrook's crusado for a policy of Empire trade development has stirred greater interest and activity in England than obtained even at tho time of Joseph Chamberlain's project of preferential Imperialism, believes the Conservative Leader, Mr. Bennett, who has just returned from London. Mr. Bennett said that ho found among the British people a feeling as to the necessity of securing, developing, and upholding the stability of the, Empire. "The campaign is not of Lord Beaverbrook alone, but of many other thoughtful men. I am not expressing a personal opinion for tho moment, but, speaking generally, I should say that all political parties in Canada are very anxious for an expansion of trade consistent with the development of our own resources and industrial life."
