WELLINGTON V. CANTERBURY
In this season's Plunket Shield competition Wellington will have two of its three matches at home, and the first of these will be with Canterbury at the Basin Reserve, commencing next Saturday. Last season Wellington went through the series without defeat, though the Plunket Shield was awarded to Auckland. A fine team has been selected for this season's first engagement, and it is reported that Canterbury will also be at good strength, both Wellington and Canterbury will have met the visiting M.C.C. team when they come together next Saturday, and the two sides should be all the better for that experience. Moreover, the JNew Zealand selectors will be here to study form in the Wellington-Canter-bury match in view of the selection of the team to meet the Englishmen in the first Test. The Shield match is to commence on Saturday at II a.m.. the hours of play being: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1.40 p.m. to 3.45 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
