WAIWETU PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION

The monthly general meeting of the Waiwetu Progressive Association was held last week. The president, Mr. Alex. Anderson, who occupied the chair, appealed to all members to co-operate with the executive in furthering the interests of the district.

The meeting decided to put forward a candidate in the interests of the district to contest the River Board elections, and to ask Mr. A. J. Nicholls to accept nomination.

Mr. Anderson made a statement in regard to the Power Board. He stated that the board hoped to be able to reduce the minimum charge, of ss, and, with the changes being made, to overcome much of the present power troubles.

A flower show, held in conjunction with the meeting, resulted as follows:—Best collection of roses, Mrs. Copping; best red rose, Mrs. Thessman; best pink rose, Mrs. Thessman; white, cream, or yellow roses, Mrs. R. T. Thompson, 1 and 2; vase of sweet peas, Mr. Menage, 1; Mrs. Thessman, 2. Delphinium, v Mrs. W. F. C. Whiteman, 1; Mrs. Copping, 2. Bloom of any other plant, Mrs. Robinson, 1; Mrs. R. T. Thompson, 2. The exhibits were judged by Mr. A. J. Nicholls.
