SPEEDWAY CONTESTS
The appearance of Harry Mangham and Wally Kilmister in match races at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedway next Saturday night is creating great interest, and the event should be easily the best of its kind yet staged in New Zealand. Mangham, although a New Zealander, has done most of his "dirt track" racing in Australia, where he carried oft" very high honours, including successes over champions of the speedways. He is in the world's best class, and since returning to New Zealand he has been rapidly regaining his best form. It is confidently expected that he will strike top form on the faster track at Kilbirnie on Saturday night. On the other hand,. Kilmister has been improving every week, and, having broken the _ record last Saturday, he should provide exceptionally strong opposition for Mangham. The Wellington champion is keen to avenge a defeat, by Jlangham at Christehurch. Three races have been set down for the match, which should be- very thrilling. First and second division events and the Silver Gauntlet final make up an attractive programme. Other announcements regarding the meeting appear elsewhere in this issue.
