LYALL BAY SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the Lyall Bay Home and School Association was held on Monday, Mr. F. W. Boyd presiding over a good attendance of members. The treasurer's report showed the association's finances to be in. a heathy state. The association had given £20 during the month to the School Committee for work urgently required in the school grounds, and minor improvements in the building and additions to the teachers' library. A donation from Mrs. A. Pye, a member of the executive, was acknowledged. The proceeds of the last two concerts had augmented the funds to an appreciable extent, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs. Menard and Mr. Jenkins for their help with fhe programme. It was decided to arrange a social evening, to take place before the breaking up of the school. Parents will be invited, and the proficiency certificates, dux medal, and sports trophies will be presented.
Appreciation was expressed at the good progress made by the scholars during the year, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the headmaster (Mr. O. A. Bonner) and his staff.
It was decided to recognise the services of the caretaker in preparing the schoolrooms for the association's functions. The president conveyed the thanks of the executive to the secretary (Mr. B. C. Cull) and the treasurer (Mr. B. W. Olson) for their good work during the year. As a fitting wind-up to the association's year 1929, the president said that ho and Mrs. Boyd would be pleased to entertain the executive at a social gathering at his residence next week. The next meeting of the association will be held in February.
