BOUND AND GAGGED

THIEF ATTACKS FARMER'S WIFE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

MAETON, This Day. Great concern has been caused in the Silverhope district, near Hunterville, by the action of a criminal on a woman. The farmhouse of Mr. D. Meadds was visited at an early hour yesterday morning by a masked man who, however, was frightened away. Later in the morning, when Mr. Meads was out on the farm, the man returned and frightened Mrs. Meads, who screamed to her husband. The man stole a gun and disappeared suddenly. A search proved fruitless but again in the evening the man returned while Mr. Meads was in the cowshed and bound and gagged Mrs. Meads and ransacked the house. The police have organised search parties.
