Accounts of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company for the year ended 30th September show a credit balance of £943,966, compared with £923,029 for the previous year. It is proposed to place £90,000 to reserve for redemption of debentures and £30,000 to the provident and good service fund. Dividend at an unchanged rate of 12 per cent, has been already announced. A sum of £120,864 is carried forward, against £121,929 .brought into the accounts. Last year transfers wera made of £103,132 to reserve for redemption of debentures and of £20,000 to the provident fund. The directors' report states that freight and passage earnings have shown an increase, and there has been a considerable reduction in expenditure.
