WHANGAREI, This Day. Ryan, the Australian middle-distance swimming champion, took part in a carnival last evening. He was defeated by Bridson, the New Zealand champion, in the 440 yards. The time was smin 40see. Bridson took the lead in the fourth lap and was a length phead at the. finish. Griffiths appeared in several exhibitions, and won the 100 yards easily.
