GALE OFF NEWFOUNDLAND
(Received 7th December, 2^30 p.m.) -ST. JOHNS (Newfoundland),
n . . , 6th Dee. Vt ten schooners missing bound for Bonavista eight have been reported* but four lives were lost. The crews were rescued. On man was drowned on the schooner Northern Light, and the rest of the crew were rescued. The steamer Baltic is 600 miles south-east of Newfoundland. She cast away lifeboat owing to the heavy seas.
