JEAN DEVANNY.
Writing on 24th October, the London correspondent of "The Post" remarks: Conjuration" is the title of a short story contributed to 'T. P.'s Weekly' by Mrs. Jean Devanny. It is described as remarkable for the keen analysis of the mmd and emotions, of an imaginative Catholic child. It is well written. The author traces the play of conscience upon a lad who has taken another boy's prize, and she takes him through a torture which might or might not be possible in a highly-strung child. Having said so much, one wonders why the story was written, and more particularly why it was published. It is cruel and unpleasant.'i
