PREVENTION OF CRUELTY
The fortnightly committee meeting of the S.P.C.A. was held on Tuesday last. Mr. G. Mitchell presided over a good attendance. • The society's -inspector reported that he had dealt with a number of cases of cruelty since the previous : meeting, and in two cases of a serious nature it had been found necessary to take Court proceedings. Visits of inspection had been paid in the city and suburbs, and the surrounding country districts, and'a number of animals had been destroyed. It was reported that the junior league was meeting with a gfeat " deal of support and that enrolments were coming in rapidly. Auy children desiring enrolment mar obtain an cutty form from'the office of the society in the A.P.A. Building, Grey street.
