NATIONALIST REGIMENT

CIVILIAN CASUALTIES

(Eeceived 4th December, 11 a.m.)

SHANGHAI, 3rd December. Non-payment of wages, coupled with a dislike of the order to proceed to Canton to fight the revolting "Iron side" troops precipitated a mutiny of a regiment of the 24th Division of the National Army, commanded by General Shihyusan.

At Pukow, opposite Nanking, to-day soldiers are looting shops in the principal streets, and fleeing into the surrounding districts. Other troops have been called in to quell the mutiny, resulting in considerable shooting in the outskirts of Pukow, in which a number of civilians were killed. Several houses wore burned. Tho Pukow-Nanking terry service is suspended.
