THEATRE ORCHESTRAS
COST OF FILMS THE OBSTACLE
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. The managers of the picture theatres here do not see much likelihood of the musicians getting back into the orchestras, at any rate for the present. The expense of the orchestra was now too great on account of the rate of film hire. The sound synchronised film was tivice the price of the ordinary silent picture was previously, and it Was easy to see in that case that the total expense would be very high.
Another manager thought that sooner or later the orchestras would come back, but it was a question of waiting for an opportune moment before engaging players.
