STATE OF THE MEAT MARKET.
The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week: "The market for wether mutton is firm, but there is little business doing. Trade in ewes is slow. The market for lambs is weak and buyers are holding off. The market is short of supplies of beef and prices are nominal:-— Wethers, light 6d to 6'/4d per Ib, heavy sV*d to 6d; ewes, 4d tc 4%d; lambs, 2's 8d to B%d, B's 7%d to Bd, 4's 7d to 7%d. seconds 7d to 7%d; ox hinds, 5%d to 6%d, fores 4%d to sd; cow hinds 5d to 5%d, fores 4d to 4%d. -
