BOATING SEASON
PLIMMERTON CLUB'S OPENING
Tho opening of the fifth season of the Pliinmerton Boating Club took place on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of local residents. Amongst the visitors were:— jtfessrs. W. Duncan, Commodore Eoyal Port Nicholson Boating Club; F. Huggins, Commodore Paremata Boating Club); K. L. Button, C. Gray (Pukerua), G. Noalo (Pukerua), John Wright, F. Eoffe, and Captain G. Hooper (Marine Department). Mrs. G. Ncale, of Plimmerton, performed tho ceremony of breaking the Club's Pennant. The Commodore (Mr G. Burd) welcomed the visitors, and referred to the satisfactory progress of the club and the local interest taken in its success. Allusion was made to the fine club house now in course of erection, the work of construction being carried out by voluntary effort under skilled supervision. Additions to the building fund were coming in and new members were being enrolled. Short addresses of a congratulatory nature were made by Messrs. W. Duncan and F. Huggins. Musical. selections were rendered by an orchestra during the afternoon, and tea was provided by tho club and lady residents of the district. For the amusement of tho children, a number of toy balloons were .released, and prizes were awarded to those who recovered them A programme of contests is being arranged, and the club anticipates having a most successful season.
