T.B. PENSIONERS
TO IMPROVE THEIR PROSPECTS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
Dr. W. Aitkcn, who was formerly in charge, oi" the Upper Sanatorium at Cashmere, and had under his care 50,6 returned tuberculous soldiers, suggested to the Soldiers' Rehabilitation Commission to-day that an employment officer should bo appointed to help tuberculous pensioners to find suitable work That officer, he said, would keep in touch with employers, and would try to place men in suitable positions with due regard to their disabilities. There appeared ito be amongst employers a certain amount of prejudice against taking on men who had been under treatment and sometimes fellow-employees created difficulties with no justification. 4. n employment' officer would be able to overcome these objections by interviewing the employers and could obtain a more sympathetic attitudo towards such pensioners.
