CYCLIST KILLED

RUN DOWN BY MOTOR-CAR

Charles Bell, a young man 18 years of age, residing at 41, Hutt road, Petone, was run down by a motor-car at about 8.30 p.m. yesterday on the Main road, Lower Hutt, about a chain south of the Electric Power Board's premises, receiving severe injuries to his head. He was attended by Dr. Barron and was removed to the Wellington Hospital by the City Ambulance, but died an hour after admission. . As far as can bo ascertained no one saw the accident, but an. employee of the Power Board heard the crash and took the number of a tfcree-seater motor-car which was proceeding north, and which he presumed to have been the cause of the accident. Bell -was riding north on a bicycle, having in front of him. Miss Willis, daughter . of Mr. F. Willis Waterloo road, Lower Hutt. Miss Willis' was thrown clear of the bicycle when it was struck and, though severely shaken and cut, was not rendered unconscious. The police are endeavouring to trace the owner of the motorcar, who has not yet reported the accident. The bicycle was damaged boyond repair.
