REFORM ACTIVITIES
Mr. V. E. Jacobson, who presided over a meeting of young people held at Petone last night to meet the Reform candidate, Mr. H. F. Johnston, emphasised the important part the rising generation could play in politics and of the value they could be to the country in working for a clean and efficient Government.
Mr. Johnston claimed that the only policy which any man could adhere to was that of the Reform Party. It was a broad policy and one which provided for the benefit of the whole community.
Paying a tribute to the leader of the party, Mr. Johnston said it was clear that the Right Hon. J. G. Coates was the only man in New Zealand to-day sufficiently equipped to successfully carry out the administration of the Dominion's affairs.
The candidate will deliver his opening address at the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, at 8 o'clock to-night, and preparations have been made for a capacity attendance. The Mayor of Lower Hutt (Sir Alexander Roberts) will preside, and Mr. Johnston will outline in detail the plans of his policy. At noon to-morrow Mr. Johnston will address employees of the Gear Meat Company at the company's works at Petone, and in the evening he will address the electors of Petone in the Grand Theatre. A full attendance of the public is anticipated for the latter meeting, which will bo presided over by the Deputy-Mayor of Petone, Councillor V. E. Jacobsen.
On Friday, at 8 p.m., the candidate will speak in the pavilion at Day's Bay, while at the same time an openair meeting will be addressed outside the Petone committee rooms by Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. for Wellington Suburbs.
