In the House of Commons the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Winston Churchill), in answer to a question, stated that, the Government did not intend to require Sir Basil Blackett "to resign his directorship of the Bank of England, or Lord Clarendon the chairmanship of the Broadcasting Corporation in order to become respectively chairman and director of the new Communications Company, which is taking over the cable and wireless services. The period of the new appointments would doubtless be the subject of an arrangement when the Communications Company was constituted. Mr. W. Wellock (Lam.): "Has the Communications Company got its eye upon controlling the Broadcasting Corporation?-" . ,
Mr. Churchill: "No such deduction would bo legitimate.".
