TYRANNY OF A CLIQUE
WHAT TROTSKY THINKS
STRUGGLE WITH STALIN
(United Press Association.— Copyrightl (Received 14th December, 10.30 a.m.) BERLIN, 13th December. • The outstanding figure in Bussia afc the present time is Trotsky. Fearing the summary processes of the O.GLB.U. he has been living underground, and appears at meetings of adherents no one knows whence and vanishes no one knows whither. - Although he has no home of his own his supporters are so numerous that, thousands of dwellings offer an open door to Trotsky. In a special interview, Trotsky, at BerUn, made a remarkable attack ou his former allies. He said: "The dictatorship of the proletariat has degenerated into the personal regime of a ruling clique, which has deprived the workers of freedom of speech and assembly, and the professional defence of class interests. Russian workmen, who defended the revolution at the barricades, are compelled to work ten hours' a day for a miserable pittance. It cannot be borne any longer. Hence the chief demand of the Opposition, namely, the democratisation of the Communist Party and restoration of freedom to the workers, that is, in all matters. \ FOREIGN POLICY A FIASCO. "Until the personal dictatorship off Stalin and his clique is destroyed, we shall not suspend the struggle. Hl3 brainless policy has brought the country to economic catastrophe. His foreign policy has suffered a completo I fiasco. An entire new economic policy was to be based on the assistance of foreign capital. .The eaptialists proved less naive than pnr diplomats. While continually raising hopes with promises of credit, they have made use of the armistice declared by us to strengthen their positions, with the result that the I Soviet is economically isolated. This means the same old dilemma: either a Socialist Federation or a Capitalistic ' Europe. The promised cohabitation, has proved impracticable."
