British sugar nianuf aoturers • are being crushed out of existence as the result'of the artificial advantages of foreign refiners over British beet sugar factories, and to a lesser degree the Dominions' manufacturers, declares Sir John Corcoran in apealiug to the Government to neutralise these handicaps. He adds that ten thousand sugar workers are thrown out of work at Greenock. Foreigners, supported by trusts, cartels, tariffs, bounties, and cheap labour, are dumping sugar cheaper than they are gelling it in their own countries. British Deet sugar factories are selling for Ws a cwt, of which the taxpayer pays 20s lOd. '■ ■*. *
