The high pressure system which has been in evidenco during tiio past few clays lias moved further eastward smco yestprday, and the barometer has fullen, especially in tho south. Strong northerly and westerly winds have prevailed. The weather has been fair generally, though cloudy at times, in the West Coast and southern districts. Indications are for northerly winds, freshening and backing to westerlies northward of New Plymouth and Napier. Northerly winds, strong to gale, and changing to aoutherlies shortly are probable elsowhere. Sultry conditions may bo expected for a short timo on the East Coast, btjt cloudiness is likely to increase generally for a change to follow, with rain soon in the western and southern districts.
