LAKE COLERIDGE POWER
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURGH, This Day. ' It is expected that at the end of next month the No. 8 generator at Lake Coleridge will be available for the production of power as required, and the nominal capacity at the Lake will be raised to 27,000 kilowats. The main;.portions of the turbine and the generator are in position, but a certain amount of fittings of parts remains to be done. The operations in the assembly of the set have proceeded without a hitch. The fixing of the rotating field on the shaft, which involves the heating and cooling of the rotor in position, is a notable operation. The Department has practically completed the operations on the transmission line between Timaru and Oamaru, which includes steel towers for the river crossings and pile foundations. It has done most of the outside structural work at the sub-station at Oamaru. -
