WOMAN AVIATOR

RETIRING FROM ACTIVE FLYING

ALLEGES BOYCOTT BY MEN.

{United Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, 20th October. Mrs. Elliott-Lynn, Britain's only woman aviator, has caused a sensation in the flying world by announcing her retirement, as a protest against male jealousy. She says she is terribly upset to give up flying, but she has' been driven to it by the necessity of calling, attention to the manner in which women air aspirants arc boycotted. For months she has had to contend against a campaign of veiled,, innuendo and open maliciousness, all because men like to scoff at the idea of women becoming successful pilots. "Their spiteful leg-pulling has been so bad at times that I could hardly bring myself to go to the aerodrome," she said. Mrs. Elliott-Lynn is a pretty, shingled woman. She has flown an airplane 40,000 miles, and last year she earned £700 by teaching and giving cxhibi-' tion flights. Her final flight will be made on Saturday, in the presence of the Dominion Prime Ministers. After-wards-she will take up coffee-growing .in Africa.
