BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY
Another very enjoyable concert was held at the rooms of the British Sailors' Society, 57-59, Lower Cuba street, on Saturday evening, the rooms being filled with seamen and their friends. The party was arranged by Mr. E. L. Bevan, and each item was greeted with applause, the performers having to respond to numerous encores. Supper was handed round during the interval by the young lady workers of the. society. At the conclusion, Mr. Bevan and hiß band of artists were accorded a vote of thanks, carried with acclamation and cheers. Items were contributed by Mesdames Brattle, Rosenthal, Misses W_.ite_.ouse, Pike, Rabe, and Dorothy Daniels, Messrs. Langford, Brattle, Foley, Butland, Wilkinson, Brown, Bevan, and Jimmy Lockwood. The accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Brattle, Miss Pike, and Mr. Langford. On Wednesday the usual mid-week social evening was held, the rooms being well filled by seafaring men. Supper was served by the social committee. The evening was spent with songs, games, and instrumental items, and the men entered into the fun with great zest.
