PETONE COURT
The fortnightly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held to-day before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M. W. JR. Ferris was ordered to pay costs only for allowing Jackson street to be obstructed by his motor-car. For a breach of his prohibition order J. It. Brennan was fined £3. Delivering beer after hours over a neighbouring fence from a brewery cost M. H. I'Ansan the costs'- of prosecution, the beer being a gift-towards tho celebration of a party. A. J. Stapleton was prosecuted under the Defence Act for failing to register^ and was fined £2. For disobedience of maintenance order, iWilliam Sutton was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long aB he pays the amount of the current order and 5s off the amount in arrears, which amounted to £5 ss. For exceeding the speed limit in motor-vehicles R. Hayes and B. G. Anderson were each fined £2. Judgment by default for plaintiff was given in the following undefended civil cases: — Commissioner of Taxes v. D. M. Armstrong, £14 19s; T. and B. Pearce v. A. Jackson, possession of tenement and £27 lis sd. In judgment summons cases J. D 'Arth was ordered to pay J, C. Scott £3 6s forthwith, or suffer three days' imprisonment.
