DEATH OF MR. F. SIDEY
AN OLD WELLINGTON RESIDENT,
Mr. Francis Sidcy. an old and wellknown resident of Wellington, died last evening at his residence, Mem street. The late Mr. Sidey, who was a native of Perth, Scotland, came out to Australia as a- young man, and soon afterwards was appointed managing clerk to Messrs. Bethune and Hunter, merchants, Wellington. He subsequently started buginesß on his -.own account as an auctioneer. Mr. Sidey took a keen interest in local government affaire, and was one of the founders of the
Waterloo Lodge of Masons. He was at one time Mayor of Melrose Borough, which portion of South Wellington was absorbed into the city many years ago. The late Mr. Sidey, who was in his 91st year at the time of hia death, leaves a family of one son and seven daughters. The "funeral will take place at 3 o'clock to-morrow, and the interment will be at the Sydney Street Cemetery.
