Three college lads, Hector Cameron, John Roberts, and Douglas Sutherland, who are cousins, were playing with a rifle at the Ngaipu Station, Hinakura, yesterday afternoon. Cameron, aged 15, was handling the weapon when it exploded. The bullet passed right through his stomach. The lad was taken to a private hospital in Mcrtinborough, a distance of iO miles.
