MOTHEBS WHO GIVE BAIL,

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

AUCKLAND, This Day. "We have a fearful record in cases in which mothers have gone bail for their sons," said Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., yesterday when a young man on bail failed to appear. The Magistrate said that he was not suro that bail should be accepted in such circumstances in the future, although there was no law to prevent it. The Chief Detective said he did not consider the system right, and tho parents should not be allowed to provide bail in this particular case. The accused's mother, who had given tho bail, had assisted the police in every way.
