An expedition is being piepared to visit the densely-populated unadministered territory, of North Burma between the ifalikha and Nahaiki Bivers, where many thousands of slaves await emancipation. In Nepaul the last traces of slavery were wiped out and freedom given to sixty thousand slaves. The compensation paid by the Government to the owners varied from 20 to 100 rnpees for each slave, though many owners waived compensation claims.
