VIERKOTTER BACK HOME
(Received 6th September, 2 p.m.)]
COLOGNE, sth September.
When welcoming the Channel swimmer Vierkotter, there were scenes of tremendous enthusiasm. On behalf of the municipality, Burgomaster Matzerath said that even if the English cliff* had received the courageous swimmer unpleasantly, the keen interest and congratulations of the whole of the British Press made ample atonement. Ther« was no mention, however, of the fact that the swim was financed by an Englishman and two Frenchmen, but th« Press comments that some money laTished on the Nationalist celebration! might have been contributed.
