. OTTAWA, 2nd September. A Montreal message states that Sir Henry Thornton, commenting to-day on the settlement of tho Grand Trunk Pacific debenture dispute in London, said: "Apart from its legal aspects, the situntion existing was one opposed, in my opinion, to the best interests of tho Dominion, and, moreover, there might bo involved even boarder Imperial considerations. I feel not only that tho railway but that the Empiro hag been well served by an amicable settlement being reached.
