KING'S THEATRE.

There is some very fine coloured photography in "Pretty Ladies," which is the main attraction in the change of programme at the King's Theatre. The story deals with the theatrical life of New York, and portrays the night life of some of the famous stars of revue. It is the true story of the witching hour of midnight on the street of bright lights and pretty ladies. It has plenty of deep human interest, takes daring' peeps into i.-s inner life of night clubs, .and mixes thrilling sequences with delightful humour. There is a strong cast which features Tom Moore, Norma Shearer, Zazu Pitts, Conrad Nagel, and Ann Pennington. Tom Moore takes the part of a drummer in a revue orchestra, and, through the aid of the "funny lady" of the piece, achieves success. The "funny lady" is not a "pretty lady" like the others, and she wins the drummer's love, only to lose it. However, events turn and bring a reconciliation, and show that "pretty ladies" are not the only ones who get the best out of life. The picture contains some very fine technicolour scenes portraying the stage of a New York revue. There is a good supporting programme which includes a comedy, a New Zealand scenic of Mount Egmont, a screen snapshot, and a Pathe News. The appropriate selections played by the King's orchestra under the direction of Mr. A. H. Jerome add to the enjoyment of the entertainment.
