BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The concluding game in the second round of the New Zealand amateur billiards championship, between M. D. White and R. Fredatovich, attracted a large attendance at the Auckland Sports Club last evening. The game was an interesting one, the lead alternating until 400 had been reached. Fredatovich then gradually forged ahead, and ran out a winner by 125. Fredatovich's best breaks were 31, 23, .25, 59, 24, 45, 44, 20, 21, 55, 27, and 24, averaging 8.6. White, who made his first appearance in a championship event, battled pluckily to the end. He made runs of 2G, 58, 31, 48, 41, 26, aid 21, averaging nearly 7.5. The following is the draw for the third round:—To-day, at 2.30, W. E. Hackett v. R. Fredatovich; 7.30 p.m., E. Stewart v. E. W. Warren; Monday, 2.30 p.m., E. V. Roberts v. H. Siedeberg; 7.30 p.m., H. F. Valentine v. K. Tate.
A snooker match between teams representing "The Dominion" and the "Evening Post" was played in the E.S.A. Club-rooms last evening. - An enjoyable and keen contest resulted in each team gaining four wins. The results of the games were ("Dominion" players mentioned first): —Austin 65 lost to M. Blundell 127, Davey 121 defeated Clarke 65, Coleman 56 lost to E. Hornblow 119, A. Sando 127 defeated W. Hanley 76, Fitzmaurice 113 defeated F. Ericksen 69, Cooper 55 lost to J. Howitt 109, Mathieson 120 defeated E. D. Eoberts 54, W. Gibson 66 lost to B. Loinas 138. The aggregate points were: "Post" 757, "Dominion" 723. At the conclusion of the match Messrs. J. Hovrifct and A. Sando spoke on behalf of the respective teams. A challenge from the U.S.A. to play the combined Press was accepted.
