'As each day brings a further advance In the Wellington Competition Society's programme, interest in the various ' events increases. Early next week it should 'be possible to" gain some idea of the probable winners of the championships. There are some competitors ■who by their consistent performances appear at this stage to bo well in the running for honours. . -On Saturdays the Competitions have been well patronised, and at the rr.atineo to-day a large attendance was expected. A good deal of interest was taken in the events this morning, and performances generally were quite up to standard. The results of the morning's tests »re:— Piano Solo (16 and under 18), "Barcarolle" in F Minor (Eubenstein). — Recalls: Mr. L. H. Muir (Lyall Bay), Miss Joyce Downing (Wellington), Miss Yera Tolan (Hataitai). Girls' Sonj (16 arid under 13), 'i\one •o Pretty."—Eecalls: Miss Mofiy Mad-, den (Wellington), Miss Jessie Dunnett (Wellington), Miss Eileen Grennell (Chris tchurch). Highly commended: Miss Eva Bennett (Wellington), Miss Hilda Cowlam (Wadestown), Miss Lillian Charles (Wellington). The finals this evening of to-day's events should provide excellent entertainment. An added attraction will be the female voice choir test, which is also set down for hearing. The test is open only to Y.W.C.A. choirs. Seven entries have been received, and the choirs will be heard in two numbers, •"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" (accompanied) and "To a Wild Rose" (unac.companied).
