The Theatre Proprietors' Association has invited the City Council to resist the demands being made by the Per-. forming Rights Association against, the owners of theatres and halls for the payment of a license for the use of the performing rights of music, and to combine with the proprietors in resisting tho impost, and, if necessary, in seeking the aid of Parliament to give relief from what was in reality a private tax for the benefit of a few firms. The Finance and Legal Committeerecommended that the matter should be left in the hands of. Mr. L. A.'Eady and the City Organist (Mr, J. Maughan Barnett), and that they be requested to confer with the Theatre Proprietors' Association. Tho recommendation wae adopted.
