REQUESTS GRANTED

ROSENEATH AND MOUNT VICTORIA AFFAIRS. The monthly meeting of the Roseneath and Mount Victoria Association was held on Wednesday last. The chairman (Mr. R. H. Stickney) reported that the executive had been in communciation with the engineers' department of the City Council on matters relating to a footpath from Grafton road to Palliser road, just off the bus stop. Tho department has promised to give the matter its consideration. The condition of the fencing in parts of Palliser road has been a source of danger to pedestrians, who have been tripped up and had their clothing torn by loose wire. This matter was brought before the notice of the City Engineer, who promised to have the matter attended to. The association had written to the Tramway Department, asking that a bus be put on the Roseneath service at 11.30 a.m. on Saturdays. The department had acceded to this request. As there was a sum voted for the erection of a handrail from Telford terrace to Palliser road, the council has been asked to put this work in hand as soon as possible. The Reserves Committee of the council is to be asked whether it will grant the residents the use of a part of the town Belt adjoining Telford terrace for the construction of a tennis lawn and oowlmg green. As there is likely to be a great deal of motor traffic from the new road constructed along the top of Mount Victoria which will find its way into 1 alhser road via Thane road, the association is of the opinion that a number of sharp benda in Palliser road should be eased off, so that pedestrians will have less risk of being run down. This road is m a very bad condition and needs repair. The Roseneath bus terminus is in a very exposed part, and the association is of the opinion that the present wooden structure known as the Fire Station could be used as a waiting-room for passengers awaiting the arrival of the bus
