An inquiry into the death of a Maori girl, Hine Ikoia Tukotohiwi, aged five years, who died of injuries received through being run over by a motor-car driven by-John Rutherford at Paroa on 25th August, was concluded last night before the 'Coroner, Mr. G. Brabant, and a jury of four. The evidence showed that the car was travelling at 1- to 15 miles an hour. The child left, her companions and ran across the road in front of the ear. The jury returned' a verdict of accidental death, and that from the evidence no blamo was at. tachable to Rutherford, and the accident could not have been avoided by him.
