TOWN PLANNING BILL AMENDED.
The Town Planning Bill was reported to the Legislative Council yesterday afternoon by the Statutes Revision Committee with amendments. , •
The first alteration to the Bill provides that the Director of Town Planning shall not be entitled to practise privately. ,
The right of claim to compensation is extended to those who may be injuriously aflected by the refusal-of the board to allow the erection of a building.
, ( A number of amendments are made in the betterment clause. The provision that the Court, in determining the amount of betterment increase, may include any prospective increase of value which in its opinion is likely to result from the preparation or operation of the scheme, is deleted. . A new sub-clause provides that no application to determine the amount of any betterment increase in respect of the carrying out of a work authorised, .by a scheme shall be made after the* expiration of twelve months after the completion of the work; also that no application to determine the amount,cf any betterment increase \ attributable to a scheme otherwise, than in respect of an authorised work shall be made after five yoars from the final approval of the scheme. . ■.
The provision inserted in the House of enabling the Compensation Court to reduce, the proportion of the betterment increase to bo paid to the local authority to avoid undue hardship is struck out. ' '. ' *
