CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
Mr. John Randall Dunn, C.5.8., of Boston, Mass., U.S.A., delivered a lecture on Cliristian Science in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Tuesday evening.
Mi-. Dunn is a- member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, U.S.A. He was introduced by Mr. Robt. Allender, First Reader of First Church of Christ Scientist in Wellington, under whose auspices the lecture was given. Mr. Dunn began his lecture by stating that every time he saw the inscription "This Way Out" he wanted to write- below it the words "Christian Science"; "for," said he, "every student of this great subject realises more and more that the understanding and practical application of the Science of Christianity affords the only definite ,way ■ out of the many problems which confront and . perplex humanity to-day."
He told of the healing many years ago of Mary Baker Eddy, a New England Christian gentlewoman, after a life-time devoted to'a search for truth and Jesus method of healing, and after her restoration to health and activity, according to the lecturer, she set about sharing with the world her discovery, and in her textbook "Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures," we find revealed the Science—the spiritual law—by which Jesus, the apostles, and the prophets, unquestionably did their mighty works. Mr. Dunn showed how the teachings of Christian Science not only enabled one to solve problems of sin and sickness, but problems of "financial illness" and business troubles as well. He gave some examples of physical healings brought about through a spiritualisation of one's thinking, and dwelt at length on the healing affect of'joy and gratitude. In conclusion, he said:-r
"The Psalmist sings 'Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning,' and unnumbered thousands of earth's dreamers, redeemed from the long night of materialism, are thanking God for His unspeakable gift, the Science of Christianity, and are hearing in the_ bright morning hours of spiritual revelation its gracious message to man,
"Joy to the world, the Lord is come, Let Earth receive her King; Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room, And Heav'n and Nature sing!"
