SERIOUS CHARGES

REMANDED,
A remand till next Friday was granted by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., iii the Magistrate's Court this morning, when Lily Hodge, a domestic, aged 32, appeared on two charges of having assisted Elizabeth Ann Nevill in the unlawful use of an instrument.
Bail of £100, in oae surety of £100, was renewed.
On the application of Chief-Detective Ward, a remand till Friday was also granted in the case of Dr. Oscar Jacobsen, aged 60, who was charged with inciting a young woman to have an unlawful instrument used upon her.
Mr. H. H. Cornish, who appeared for Dr. Jacobsen, asked the chief detective if it was intended to proceed with the charges against both the accused on Friday. Mr. Ward replied that he understood that that was the intention of the Crown.
Mr. Cornish: "Of course, there is no connection between the two cases."
Mr. Ward: "That is so."
As before, Dr. Jacobsen was admitted to bail in the sum of £250, in one surety of £250.
